China Report
At the Cardiac Safety 2023 conference, Prof. Jilun Ye of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Shenzhen University, shared his insights in the field of exercise cardiopulmonary testing, injecting a new impetus to the development of the cardiac safety field. China Report interviewed Prof. Ye on topics related to the conference.
Exercise cardiopulmonary testing in the field of great health
Prof. Ye said that exercise cardiopulmonary test is a very important medical test to monitor and assess the functional status of the cardiopulmonary system in real time while people are exercising. This test not only plays a key role in medical diagnosis and treatment, but is also widely used in the health field.

01. Routine Physical Examination and Risk Assessment
Exercise cardiopulmonary test can be used to assess the cardiopulmonary function status of an individual and to determine whether he or she is able to withstand a certain intensity of exercise load. This assessment is important for routine medical checkups and health management to detect potential cardiopulmonary disease risks and take timely preventive measures.

02. Early screening and diagnosis of diseases
Exercise cardiopulmonary testing can detect abnormal physiologic markers that are present in the early stages of cardiopulmonary disease and can help in the early screening and diagnosis of cardiopulmonary disease.

03. Rehabilitation and recovery assessment
For patients with cardiopulmonary diseases who have already received treatment, the exercise cardiopulmonary test can assess the degree of recovery and recovery status and provide guidance for subsequent rehabilitation training.
The unique role and benefits of exercise cardio testing in the gym
Prof. Ye believes that exercise cardiopulmonary testing has a unique role and advantage in the gym in the context of the integration of body and medicine. Exercise cardiorespiratory testing can provide a number of quantitative indicators, such as cardiac function (ECG, NIBP, SPO2) and pulmonary function (tidal volume, gas metabolism, etc.), thus providing important guidance for the customized design and tracking optimization of individual fitness. This not only helps ensure safety, but also the effectiveness of fitness results.
Latest research results and experience sharing
Prof. Ye said that the following latest research results have been achieved in exercise cardiorespiratory fitness monitoring technology:

01. Successful enhancement of immunity to exercise cardiology
The problem of high-quality acquisition of ECG signals in exercise environments has been solved.

02. Successful development of miniaturized respiratory flow monitoring technology without air resistance
This novel monitoring method uses a proposed sampling thermal resistance bridge flow sensor to achieve real-time monitoring of flow, which is currently undergoing integration testing

03. Successfully developed the oxygen monitoring method by paramagnetic method and realized the first paramagnetic oxygen monitoring technology in China.
The technology is currently being engineered and is believed to be ready for practical application in the near future.
Prof. Ye emphasized that the scientific issues of exercise cardiorespiratory fitness testing and applications have long been settled, and the current challenge is technical. In order to achieve cost-effective autonomous design of the core technology, costs must be controlled to make the whole system economically viable and easy to popularize. Prof. Ye's technology can support this goal and promote the popularization and application of the system, which will be a great help to the health industry.
At the end of the interview, Prof. Yeh said that he will continue to devote himself to the research and application of exercise cardiorespiratory fitness monitoring technology to contribute to people's health. He hopes that through continuous research and innovation, he will be able to bring more breakthroughs and development to the health industry in the future.
